The Network brings together non-profit associations and groups composed of architects, or mostly architects with other professional profiles. Together with the National Council of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects and Conservationists (CNAPPC) they are promoters of a “Coordinator of Humanitarian Architecture”, as expressed in a Memorandum of Understanding.
The Coordinator does not pursue profit, directly or indirectly, and is inspired by the principles of solidarity, honesty, transparency and professionalism.
Subscription to the agreement, which puts all non-profit associations and groups on the same level, is based on the free exchange of information.
Each non-profit Association or Group retains its autonomy and identity, while at the same time putting all of its knowledge and experience at the disposal of the other member associations.
The Coordinator’s function is to:
- Ensure representation and an institutional coordination on the part of the National Council of P.P.C. Architects and, through these, of the system of provincial Orders and the architects operating in the sector of Cooperation and Humanitarian Architecture;
- Create a network of member non-profit Associations and Groups;
- Facilitate a synergy between the member non-profit Associations and Groups that leads to a sharing of experiences and interventions of mutual support;
- Create opportunities for synergies to work together on projects in the Cooperation sector;
- Locate resources to support projects launched by member non-profit Associations and Groups, which will be used exclusively by them;
- Develop collaborative research projects in the area of programs financed by regional, national, European Union and international funds;
- Create a collaborative and coordinated capacity to promote experiences and the value of Humanitarian Architecture;
- Organize an educational offering oriented towards Cooperation and in-depth analysis of issues in Humanitarian Architecture, operating in emergencies and sustainability;
- Organize and promote events to increase awareness of how architects active in the area of Cooperation and Humanitarian Architecture operate.
